Hi! I’m Kate — an English teacher from Ukraine, now living in South-Eastern England.
I help adults and teenagers learn English for everyday life, travel, and work. My lessons are friendly, flexible, and focused on helping you feel confident when speaking and understanding English.
My full name is Kateryna, but in the English-speaking world, everyone calls me Kate.
In autumn 2022, I decided to try teaching English while still working in the hospitality industry. I enjoyed it so much that I soon switched to teaching full-time — and discovered my true passion.
Throughout my own learning journey, I met many wonderful teachers. I observed their methods, learned from their strengths, and also noticed what didn’t work for me as a student. Over time, I developed my own teaching style — based on experience, empathy, and real communication.
In 2025, I earned my TEFL Diploma (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from The TEFL Academy. The course gave me many new ideas and confirmed much of what I already practiced from personal experience.
I also hold a Master’s Degree in Tourism and Recreation and have professional experience in the hotel and travel industries, which helps me understand how people use English in real-life and business situations.
I work with adults and teenagers at all levels — from beginners to advanced learners.
My students study English for:
everyday communication
travel
business and professional growth
life in English-speaking countries
Each student comes with different needs, and I adapt every lesson to match their goals and pace.
My lessons have structure but stay flexible. I often follow the English File course book as a base and then add extra topics and exercises. If a student struggles with something, I create extra practice materials — often designed personally for them.
I love using digital tools like Canva, Bamboozle, RemNote, and Adobe Acrobat to make learning visual and interactive. I also create personalized exercises from words and situations that appear naturally during lessons, so practice always feels relevant.
My students often say they like that I repeat things a million times if needed, until everything becomes clear and comfortable for them. They appreciate that I notice their mistakes, prepare exercises to fix them, and always stay patient, supportive, and understanding.
For me, teaching is not only about grammar and vocabulary — it’s about respect, trust, and support.
I always tell my students it’s okay not to know something. I encourage them to take their time, ask questions, and learn step by step. I respect every student’s pace and personality, and I’m always ready to help, listen, and adjust lessons to their needs.
My native languages are Ukrainian and Russian. I also understand Polish and currently study Turkish in my free time — so I truly understand what it feels like to be a language learner.
Outside teaching, I enjoy:
creating new materials and learning about teaching tools
crafts and creative projects
swimming, yoga, and forest walks (I live in a rural area 🌲)
watching Korean and Chinese TV dramas
exploring religion, nature, and meditation
traveling and discovering new cultures
I know what it’s like to learn English from zero — I’ve been there.
There were times when I thought I’d never understand native speakers or be able to say what I wanted. But today, I live, work, and study in England, speaking English every day.
That’s why I believe anyone can do it too. With the right guidance, patience, and small steps forward, you can reach your English goals.
✨ If you’d like to start this journey together, I’d love to help you every step of the way.
